New data reveals Americans are drinking quite a bit lately. Researchers from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism looked at two large studies (one from 2001-2002, and one from 2012-2013) in which people self-reported their drinking habits. They discovered the number of people who said they drank alcohol in the last year increased 11%. In addition, the rate of alcohol use disorders increased nearly 50%, and the rate of high-risk drinking (for women, four or more drinks per day at least once a week, every week, for a year, and five or more for men) increased nearly 30%. But, for women, high-risk drinking increased nearly 60% (among men it only increased 15%.) And among those ages 65 and up, high-risk drinking increased 65%. It’s thought women are drinking more because in culture, it has become more acceptable for women to drink like men; also, added stress likely plays a role in people drinking more overall. (Time.com)
The thing I like about nuclear war is that I can get as drunk as I want and no one will say a goddamn word. Only that though.
