Rumor has it that Amazon, who recently took over hipster favorite Whole Foods, may be getting into the meal kit delivery service. On July 6th Amazon filed for a meal kit trademark with the slogan "We do the prep, you be the chef."
Blue Apron is by far the most popular of these services (seriously can you name any others?) and investors are not excited about having to be in competition with the almighty Oz, uh, I mean Amazon. Blue Apron's stock price dropped as much as 12% following news of Amazon's trademark filing.
I get it. People are worried that Amazon is basically taking over the world and anyone that's not an Amazon Prime member will be forced to live in an Elon Musk colony on Mars. But have you looked at Blue Apron's pricing? That shit is expensive. If Amazon can deliver a quality product at a more affordable price, then sign me up. That's capitalism, baby!
